A-League - Wellington Phoenix 3-0 Macarthur - 27/04/2024

Photo highlights from the A-League clash between Wellington Phoenix and Macarthur at the Sky Stadium.

The Phoenix kept up their end of the bargain by registering a comfortable 3-0 win over Macarthur at Sky Stadium on Saturday to maintain their one-point advantage at the top of the table with goals from Kosta Barbarouses who became the all time leading kiwi goalscorer in the A-League after breaking Shane Smeltz's record of 92 goals with a sublime finish through the legs of Filip Kurto.

Tim Payne doubled the lead shortly after with a diving header at the back post after good work from Ben Old before Oskar Zawada put the icing on a controlled performance from the league leaders from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Macarthur goalkeeper Filip Kurto.

Wellington Phoenix will now face a nervous four-day wait to see whether they will be crowned A-League Men premiership winners as reigning champions Central Coast Mariners still have a game in hand, against Adelaide United in Gosford on Wednesday.

After the game the Wellington Phoenix players and staff posed with fans on the hallowed turf to celebrate a still potentially memorable season.

Result: Wellington Phoenix 3-0 Macarthur
