Super Rugby Pacific 2024 Round 10 - Crusaders 39-0 Melbourne Rebels

Photo highlights from the Super Rugby Pacific clash between the Crusaders and Melbourne Rebels in Christchurch at the Apollo Project's Stadium.

The Crusaders handed fourth placed Melbourne Rebels a massive reality check in the garden city as the Crusaders kept the Rebels scoreless and humbled the aussies in a 39-0 drubbing.

The visitors were never in the contest in truth and were overwhelmed up front from a hungry Crusaders side that came into yesterday's fixture bottom of the ladder.

The fourth-ranked Rebels had won their previous three games to put themselves in the finals frame, but were well and truly reminded about the difficulties of winning games in New Zealand.

Crusaders No.8 Christian Lio-Wllie and flanker Cullen Grace put the Crusaders 10-0 up in the opening 20 minutes, but the floodgates really opened later in the game with three second-half tries against a broken Rebels outfit.

The Crusaders resumed their absolute dominance after the break, when Lio-Willie powering over for a second before Rivez Reihana knocked over a penalty to put them 18-0 clear on 50 minutes.

Owen Franks, Sevu Reece and Johnny McNicholl scored late on to wrap up a memorable victory by which time the Rebels threw in the towel.

It was just the Crusader's second win of the campaign, but they immediately jumped up into ninth spot to remain a competition factor.
